The Perfect Day?
Monday, I’ll start on Monday. No the first of the month, I’ll start on the first of the month. The first day of spring, my birthday, as soon as exams are over… If you’ve ever started a sentence with any of these statements or something similar followed by I will start eating healthy and exercise; you’re not alone.
So many people are guilty of waiting for that perfect day to start their health and fitness regimes. The problem is the start day is often more of a focus then the progression, the commitment and the planning.
Don’t wait for the perfect day. That day is HERE, that day is TODAY!
Life will never be perfect, there will always be obstacles that will be there to justify inconvenience, fear and perhaps even laziness.
Set yourself up for success, not failure.
STOP Thinking about giving up the things you love such as fast foods, hours in front of the tv, etc
STOP Thinking about the time you give up to train or cook a healthy meal
STOP Thinking about the inconvenience of packing a gym bag, taking the time to plan meals and workouts
START Thinking about the long term health benefits of shedding a few pounds and eating food that is nourishing
START Thinking of how empowered you will feel when you become strong and fit allowing you to get through your days full of energy.
START Thinking of the time you are spending on yourself, time that you owe yourself.
Setting yourself up for success entails being positive, being consistent and stopping with the excuses. Write down your plan for the week and stick to it.
Finally, don’t let other steal your time. That nice friend that convinces you to go for a coffee rather than work out, isn’t as nice as you think. A nice friend will meet you afterwards or even better, go with you!
Happy Training!
