Lean Bodies Are Made In The Kitchen

Have you ever noticed overweight people running marathons; doing classes that would make you breathless just watching; swimming lengths that you can barely count let alone swim them?

I wouldn’t argue that they’re fit; however I would argue that perhaps they aren’t healthy…yes there is a difference.  The fact is having a large waistline is not healthy as people with wider waistlines are more likely to have visceral or intra-abdominal, this fat is found around the organs.   The big deal is that this type of fat around the internal organs is linked with high cholesterol, high blood pressure and therefor can increase the risk of diabetes, heart disease, stroke and various cancers.

What to do about this?  Well we know that exercise alone is not enough, in fact it’s no where near enough.  Exercise only accounts for approximately 20% of fat loss with nutrition accounting for about 80%

Lean waistlines START in the kitchen.

Here are 5 steps to AVOID and 5 steps to START

AVOID

1. Processed Foods

2. Fruit Juices and other so called health drinks

3. Sugar and artificial sweetners

4. Refined Carbohydartes (white pasta, cereals, most breads, white rice)

5. Dairy (other than organic plain yogurt, organic butter and some soft cheeses)

HAVE:

1. Lean proteins (fish, eggs, turkey, tuna)

2. Fruits, vegetables and berries

3. Water

4. Good fats (fishoils, flaxseed oil, olive oil, coconut oil)

5. Whole grains (oats, brown rice, quinoa)

Many people want to slim down their waistlines to look good, there’s nothing wrong with that; however if the focus is on your overall health and longevity then you’re more likely to stick with it.

Not everyone has to be tiny and slim and we’re not about promoting ultra thinness but what we are about is having people consider carefully what they are putting in their bodies and how it’s affecting them on the inside.
