Everyone Needs a Little Support

Do you try to lose weight; give up drinking for some time; or stick to a healthy eating program, only to give in to friends who encourage you to join them in eating unhealthy foods and drinking?

More often then not if the people you spend time with do not support your goals then the likely hood of you achieving them is slim. Not impossible but slim.

Friends and family may discourage you from your new health regime for many reasons, it often has more to do with them and their own personal struggles than you; however if it affects your progress then you may need to do something about it.

What to do?  Ditch your friends and family?  NO  You don’t need to get rid of friends and family; however if you want to succeed your best chances are finding someone that will encourage you and perhaps take on similar goals.

Having a partner can make all the difference:

1. Someone who you can ring in moments of weakness

2. Someone you can plan to exercise with and encourage you when you’re tired and don’t feel like going.

3.  Someone to spend time with on a night out and know they will make the same healthy choices you do

4.  Someone to share your small achievements as you go along.  Small daily and weekly achievements add up to accomplishing your final ‘big’ goal.

You may find in time that you do spend less time with people who jeopardize your goals and more time with those that are encouraging.  Friends may mean well, but that extra little push to have another glass of wine or go for a take away isn’t in your best interest.

Finally, being a support system for someone else often makes sticking to your own goals easier!

Who are you going to partner up with for a little support?
