1. Drink Water - The human body is made up of roughly 60-70% of water. The benefits of water include increased metabolism, detoxification, nutrient absorption, improved concentration, younger looking skin and improved digestion.
2. Drink Green Tea – Green tea is known to be high in antioxidants, metabolism boosting, speeds up fat oxidation, improves immune function and surprisingly is also known to help prevent tooth decay
3. Eat Plenty of fruits and vegetables – Important for just about everything! Digestion, protect and repair DNA, healthy cardiovascular system, anti cancer properties, great hair, healthy skin, strong nails, lean muscle, strong bones, good vision…the list goes on.
4. Strength Train – Resistance training even just twice a week can have a huge benefits to keeping your muscles and bones strong. Apart from staying lean and healthy, strength training is important to keep your posture strong and prevent future muscular injuries due to weakness or imbalances.
5. Get your sleep (7-9 hours a night) – If you’ve got everything right but you’re sleep is all wrong it will catch up with you. Sleep is critical for good health and often the first thing people get wrong. Getting your sleep right has many benefits including improved concentration, cardiovascular health, stress reduction, reducing inflammation, improved memory and yes fat loss!
6. Find time for yourself - With life demanding more and more from people often time for yourself is the first to go. This is crucial to feeling like things are in balance and relieving stress.
7. Keep a Gratitude Journal – Sounds cheesy but reflecting on the things you are grateful for is a great tool to keeping life in perspective especially if things aren’t going well. We often let one negative event override the good things that are happening.
8. Spend time with positive people - We don’t often notice how much energy negative people take from us but over time these people can be detrimental to your health and well being. If you’re feeling down and need a bit of encouragement spending time with positive people can help to change your perspective for the best.
9. Invest in you health – Spending money on good food, supplements or exercise is an investment in your health. Save on activities that don’t contribute positively to your health such as heavy drinking, smoking, tanning, etc. If you don’t invest in your health you will one day invest in your illness.
10. Laugh - Laughing reduces the stress hormone cortisol and increases endorphins making you feel happy. Laugh it up!
