Simple Paleo Bread Recipe

Bread has become a staple food for many households.  Unfortunately it is the first thing to go when someone decides to lose body fat. Mostly because of the effects wheat has on insulin levels, not to mention the added preservatives and chemicals.

Thanks to this recipe you don’t have to give up bread! Even if you are not a baker you can make this one.  No kneading required! This recipe is simple and most importantly delicious.

Ingredients:

1 1/3 flax meal

2/3 almond flour

3 tsps baking powder

4 eggs

3 tbsp olive oil

salt and pepper to taste

A tiny bit of water to achieve the required consistency

Gently mix the eggs and olive oil together.  In a separate bowl mix the dry ingredients.  Add the eggs and olive oil to the dry ingredients, mix together and add a dash of water to give it a slightly runny consistency.

Bake for 30 minutes at 175C or 350F

Enjoy your slice of bread!

For some reason, the flaxbread i make, always has a weird taste/smell, almost “fishy”
The ingredients i used were exactly the same as yours. Am i doing something wrong?

Hmm that’s strange, haven’t heard that before. The only thing I can think of is perhaps it’s the brand of flax meal you are using. How does it taste? Although if something doesn’t smell nice it’s usually not nice to eat either.

  3. Sabine says:

I first ordered flaxmeal (dutch webshop) and then decided to make it myself, just grind flaxseeds in a coffeegrinder. It tasted fishy too, really weird. Recently made a bread with chia seed meal, and turned out a lot better!
Will be in the Staes soon, what brand of flax meal did you use?

Do you know what the nutritional content of the bread is?

Made this last night and it was amazing! I might try adding some seeds to it next time, pumpkin, sunflower and sesame, Yum! I also might try increasing the ratio of almond flour to flax. I wonder will it still work? Very grateful for this recipe. Thanks

I made this today and it was delicious! i added a tablespoon or so sesame seeds to the mix and sprinkled some on top before baking. I was never really a real bread lover but once in a blue moon I actually crave it (like this weekend) and this hit the spot!!! thank you so much for posting. :)

Yeah, it would be amazing if someone found out the ratios for this so we can make bigger loafs.

What actually gives the loaf it’s girth? The flaxseed? Would you then need more water if you increased the amount of flaxseed?

I made this last night and its fantastic. Do you mind if I post it on my website (with a link back to you of course) for my readers? Re: the nutritional profile I worked out that if it’s cut into 15 slices (which my loaf did), each slice is 148 cals, 12 g fat (its all good fat though), 6.2 g carbs, 5.4 g protein. Each slice provides 4.3% daily allowance of calcium plus 7% of iron.
