Smoothie bowls are all the rage and there’s a reason for it…they’re super yummy! Like anything however you’ve got to look out for smoothie bowls with tonnes of sugar and ingredients that aren’t so good for us. The easiest way ensure they’re top quality is to make your own.
This is one of my current faves. I’m calling it Berry Bliss. The key with smoothie bowls is to make the base thick. Some do this by adding muesli but I’ve created this one with a chia seed hack.
- Soak chia seeds for 10-15 minutes, until jelly like. About a tablespoon and soak in 3x the amount of liquid. I just used water but you could soak in coconut milk or almond milk.
- Using my magic bullet I then blend a handful of frozen strawberries, a small frozen banana, the soaked chia seed, a scoop of vanilla complete (vegan, gluten free and non gmo – not paleo) and mixed with just enough water to blend it all together.
- Crushed almonds, cashews and macadamia nuts, hemp hearts, frozen blueberries and sliced banana.
You can literally top it with anything you’d like. If find the fun is in having different textures.
I highly recommend these. I have mine for breakfast or lunch depending on what my day looks like. You can even have it for dessert.
Let me know in the comments if you’ve made these before, if you’re going to try it or what you’re favourite flavour is.
Health and happiness,
