For example why worry about the carbohydrates in a potato if every weekend you are having a big drinking bender? Why panic about calories when you are eating a chocolate bar a day?

Look, the little things do matter when you are nearing your goal and want to lose the last 5 or 10 lbs but if you have a lot to lose then stop stressing about the little things and focus on the biggest cause of the problem.  Typical problems when it comes to food are:

5 typical food barriers to losing weight:

1. Too much sugar in your diet

2. Large quantities of alcohol

3. Eating processed foods

4. Too much wheat in the form of pasta, sliced breads, processed cereals, bagels, etc.

5. Calorie filled drinks.

Losing weight isn’t easy but the process needs to start with being honest with yourself as to what the cause of the weight is.

Be kind to yourself.
